To join our Product Development Team, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible.

At BetterDoc, we have developed and now enhance a system to support the assignment of patients to physicians who can best treat them - depending on the patient's condition, we find the best doctor to treat him or her. Our next big steps are automation of the patient-physician matching process and the equipment and operation of the data science platform.

Your mission
You take responsibility in changing the way healthcare works in Europe and beyond. With your work you help 1 Mio people in 2028 to get the best possible treatment at the right doctors or clinics. For achieving this you leverage technology for our employees and customers, so they apply their expertise more effectively and efficiently.
- You enjoy working as part of a cross functional team. Together with your colleagues, you will code, review PRs, deploy to production, etc.
- You can write and maintain high-quality and well-tested code that is aligned with the overall service architecture and utilises abstractions and code isolation effectively. You can also prepare a fast proof of concept when you need to.
- You understand our engineering strategy and often involve yourself in discussions on the implications for the team you are working in
- You commit to realistic amounts of work, and work with teammates both to ensure they understand priority and urgency, and to deliver upon them accordingly
- You look for opportunities to simplify product & technical design
- You approach engineering work with a security lens, actively look for security vulnerabilities both in the code and when providing peer reviews
- You have excellent communication skills and written English, are self-motivated, and comfortable working in a remote position.
- You deliver praise and constructive feedback to teams, teammates and manager in a useful manner
- You encourage teammates to openly share their opinions and contribute to discussions in a respectful manner. Approach disagreement non-defensively with inquisitiveness. Your profile
- In your professional career as a software engineer (min three years) you have been working on state of the art software architecture and you are familiar with recent trends and modern Software Development
- You are comfortable with Elixir and/or Ruby on Rails since these are our primary languages
- Additionally, you are acquainted with at least two common web development frameworks (Django, React, )
- Practical experience following Domain Driven Design
- Good understanding of SQL, Databases and basics of User Experience Design
- Solid foundation in software patterns, data structures, algorithms, software design and experience designing & building scalable data-intensive architectures
