Chief Data Officer | VP Data & Analytics (f/m/d)

Our customer is one of the leading e-commerce companies in Europe and operates the technical platform for several online stores of an international retail group. With a presence in various European countries, the company continuously develops new digital services with a high degree of customer centricity and a modern user experience for the group's omnichannel and ecosystem strategy. The further professionalization of data management is a central building block for the strategic development of the company. The CDO role is key to building a modern data infrastructure, advanced D&A competencies, and data literacy within the organization.

Tasks

The CDO will be responsible for all operational and strategic domains of data management. Just as important, however, is the transformation and facilitation mission in the context of the further development of a data-driven mindset among various stakeholder groups. Therefore, we are looking for a leader who combines technical competence with persuasiveness and a good understanding of business contexts.

Your core responsibilities in the role are accordingly:

• Overseeing the collection, storage, management, quality and protection of data
• Definition of the data strategy after analysis and based on the business strategy
• Planning and further development of the technical data infrastructure and data systems/tools
• Ensure up-to-date data governance
• Generate actionable insights from data and push to get these actions executed
• Effectively communicate the importance of a proper data collection and governance to top-management
• Leadership and further development of the team

Requirements

Ideally, you will have a background with the following experience, skills, and personality traits:

• Degree in information technology, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related fields
• 5-10 years experience in senior-level data management, analytics or data platform operation roles
• Proven experience in setting-up data governance policies, data mesh architectures and processes
• Experience in leading large heterogeneous teams (data engineers, data scientists, analysts, product owners)
• strong communication skills and analytics mindset.
• knowledge of relevant tools, systems and solution components in the data field (big data, data warehousing solutions, visualization environments)
• International experience and business fluent English skills
