Job Description

The IT Technology Specialist is responsible for providing reliable regional IT Support within the regional organization, ensuring that service levels for performance, availability and support are achieved through the internal global/regional IT infrastructure team or external service providers. The incumbent will need to develop a full understanding of the IT support requirements of the regional organization and implement solutions that meet IT service and strategic objectives. They will also be responsible for managing security and patch levels in relation to regional IT infrastructure, including the documentation, communication and implementation of related policies and procedures. The position holder acts as the business partner or lead for IT related projects and regional IT solutions.

Tasks

  • Manage the regional IT infrastructure security, including physical access to IT infrastructure, remote access, file servers, data backups and ensure the secure return or disposal of IT equipment containing data based on policies and guidelines from the organization.
  • To manage partnerships with other departments and external suppliers for Regional IT infrastructure services including, support services, change management, consultation services and the production and distribution of regular reports against KPI s and costs.
  • To monitor the performance of the Regional IT infrastructure, ensuring that it is optimized and that future capacity planning is undertaken.
  • To maintain comprehensive records and documentation for the configuration of the Regional IT infrastructure.
  • Installs new computer and telecommunication hardware and software in the regional server room(s) as well as and maintains existing hardware and software.
  • Provide 2nd line support for incidents and problems that could not be
    solved by the 1st line support team. May provide support at the site level
    including: Maintenance and servicing of local networks, PCs and laptops, mobile phones, VoIP phones, conferencing, and other IT equipment.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software problems
  • Administering local business user accounts for new and reassigned employees by maintaining the user groups in Active Directory, as well as password resets
  • Configuring and installing new images on laptops and desktops
  • Closing out local helpdesk tickets in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • ITIL, Prince 2, CCNA, MCSE
  • Experience with Microsoft networked environments.
  • Experience in managing LAN, WAN, Wireless and PBX/VOIP technologies.
  • Experience in establishing, monitoring and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Experience in liaising with external suppliers or subject matter experts.
  • Experience in managing processes and influencing effectively.
  • Understanding and appreciation of current, new and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with managing/leading projects.
