Job Description

Material Handler III - Forklift Operator

Aiken, SC

Primary duties: Perform work in a safe manner and follow all safety policies and be inline with other policies such as exhibiting responsible behavior in regards to team members and other employees encountered. Transfer information gathered from tooling and supply to support personnel to capture into database.

  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels, inside and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to resolve moderately complex issues.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.
  • Maneuver tooling in order to read tooling numbers for data entry collection.
  • Use of cranes; jib air or electric versions.
  • Some may require the use of rigging such as an extendable boom pole, magnets or slings as needed to move tooling for identity purposes.

Experience

  • Previously certified to operate both Stand-up and sit down forktrucks with at least 3 years experience.
  • Able to inspect lift daily and checkoff for proper functioning of unit.
  • Reporting to the client supervision any items malfunctioning or damages to lifts.
  • Able to navigate forktrucks in tight spaces.
  • Inside containers and narrow aisleways. Able to reorganize pallets by hand which will require the need to stoop or bend to read tooling numbers and transfer to admin either verbal or written for entry
  • Will require safety shoes, preferably boots and wear company approved PPE (provided). Gloves, eyewear and hearing protection.
  • Should be in good physical shape and able to handle items up to 32 pounds alone with ability to bend, stretch, stoop removing/replacing/organizing fixture and tooling from both inside the plant and adjacent outside containers where tooling is stored.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus additional 4 years relevant experience; or Associate's degree plus 0 years experience.
