Job Description
- Estimating repair costs and negotiating with contractors to ensure that costs stay within budget
- Inspecting properties to determine their condition and value, including reviewing physical aspects of a property such as walls, floors, and roofs, as well as reviewing legal documents such as tax records and mortgage statements
- Consulting with clients to determine their needs for investment properties, such as condominiums or single family homes, based on their financial situation and objectives
- Determining the market value of real estate in order to set prices for home sales or appraise property for loan applications
- Preparing reports on property values and sales activity for use by banks, mortgage companies, and other financial institutions
- Negotiating with buyers and sellers to reach agreements on price, terms of payment, and other details of a transaction
- Researching real estate trends and statistics to identify potential investment opportunities or risks
- Conducting research on properties that are listed for sale in order to prepare brochures, post signs, and place ads in newspapers and other media outlets
- Preparing legal documents such as deeds and promissory notes for purchase or sale of property
