Job Description

**BASED IN BATES, OR** Work independently and as part of a crew to implement projects on the Forrest, Oxbrow and Dunstan Conservation properties, as well as project work for the john Day Watershed Restoration Program on sites throughout the john Day River basin. Work to include, but not limited to: riparian and upland enhancement projects, installation of spring developments, juniper felling and hand piling, tree planting for up to three months per year, control of noxious weeds using herbicides and mowers, fence repair and building (barbed, smooth wire, and buck & pole), maintain shop and field equipment (ATvs, mowers, tractors, chainsaws, water pumps, etc.)

Requirements

Ability to work outside for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs., walk over up to 4 miles over rough terrain at times, and work under inclement weather. Knowledge and and experience of weed identification, various fence building techniques, ATV/Skid Steer/ Backhoe operation, and chainsaw work desired. Competent typing and writing skills for reporting, data management. Work hours are 40+ hours per week with overtime required at times. Considered essential for snow day plowing. Valid drivers license required. Punctuality and a clean driving record are a must. Drug testing to be performed if selected, must be vaccinated & boosted for COVID-19. Housing provided and required at Oxbow Duty Station.
