Job Description

MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Electrical Engineering Manager will manage the plant-wide capital and maintenance project program maximizing effectiveness of capital funds, asset reliability, uptime, and cost effectiveness with available resources.They understand and align business operations and Engineering as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with company business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS:Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Provide direct supervision, technical direction, administrative management, leadership, coaching, and development of personnel in the plant engineering area.
  • Manage plant-wide capital and maintenance project program maximizing asset reliability, uptime, and cost effectiveness with available resources. Responsibilities include long range planning, budget development, project management, project installation, and reporting.
  • Responsible for the management of all utilities operations, spending and people.
  • Coordinate energy management optimization activities.
  • Evaluation and preservation of automated systems including on machine gauging system and Mill DCS.
  • Identify equipment and process improvements to support waste and/or process costs reductions.
  • Application of NFPA Guidelines including publication 70E.
  • Provide relief maintenance supervision and off-hour plant support for maintenance and process troubleshooting.
  • Consolidation of monthly and annual results with supporting explanations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 7-10 year history of successful project management in a manufacturing environment, paper or chemical preferred.
  • Knowledge with PLCs, preferable with Rockwell and Siemens, Controloigix and S7.
  • Experience and ability to read, interpret, and modify schematics for both power and control systems.
  • Power systems experience: 13.8kV to 480Vmotor control centers, switchgear, transformers, DC Motors, relays, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Electronic component diagnostics and troubleshooting skills including PLCs, VFD Drives, DCS systems and computer related controls and programming capabilities.
  • Must have good attention to details, but be able to manage the big picture and have a make the numbers mentality.
  • Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.
  • Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement.
  • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid planning, scheduling, leadership, and administrative skills.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor s degree from a 4 year institution in Engineering (Electrical strongly desired)

SKILLS:

  • Must be well organized, analytical, decisive, action oriented and a team player
  • Proven Project Manager with a track record of identifying opportunities and the ability to communicate, recommend, and implement improvements.
