We seek to hire a legal counsel of commercial legal who will be a key member of the growing legal team supporting the consumer facing e-commerce platform and services around the world.
The attorney will be based in one of our European offices (Madrid). The key areas and requirements that we are looking for are those listed below:
Advise on legal aspects of the platform s expansion of current and proposed new e-commerce offerings.
Provide advice to business teams on legal aspects of the implementation of commercial agreements, business models and strategies, business operations, marketing activities, and product offerings.
Research local laws and regulations in the local jurisdiction and manage outside counsel.
Provide advice on platform compliance, product listing compliance, local and cross border logistics, import/export, and payment acceptance.
Negotiate, draft, and review contracts and commercial agreements.
Develop in-house legal tools and policies, and conduct trainings to business units.
Requirements
Legal license to practice as a Spanish qualified lawyer, can consider bar admission in another EU jurisdiction or England and Wales
For senior legal counsel, 10+ years, and for legal counsel, at least 3 and preferably 5-9 years of post-qualification experience at a leading law firm and/or corporation. In-house experience highly welcome, strong preference for e-commerce/tech related.
Experience with e-commerce, and/or cross-border trade transactions (such as import/export, logistics, payments, financing, etc.) preferred.
English and Spanish language proficiency is essential. Strong plus to have fluency in another European language and/or in Chinese (i.e. ability to hold business meetings, as well as reading writing).
Highly-motivated and able to work independently and under pressure in a start-up environment.
