You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailPositions assigned to this class are responsible for providing standard and advanced implementation and administration support of enterprise server and storage systems. Incumbents assists in operational support requests, participates in projects as a senior technical resource, performs regular maintenance for various systems, monitors services for issues, ensures the security and integrity of server and storage services and their respective data. This position may be assigned as a primary resource during complex troubleshooting, initial configuration and design development, and feature testing for new technologies.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a fully qualified and experienced level professional classification in the information technology job family. Incumbents perform the full range of duties that requires extensive and broad knowledge and skill within an assigned IT functional area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town s needs.
Works with the Information Technology Infrastructure Supervisor in devising strategic and tactical solutions required to meet overall business objectives; recommends technology solutions considering a number of factors including budget, business need, and internal capabilities. This position will also assist in budgetary package development by working with team to gather quotations and prepare purchasing requisitions;
Provides system administration, analysis, design and functions for all server systems disk storage systems, Storage Area Network (SAN) and back-up systems; develops project schedules, prioritizes tasks, and meets project schedule requirements. This includes Standard Operating Procedures for installation and administration for Server Operating Systems, Enterprise Storage Systems, Local and Network File Systems, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, VMWare Virtualization; and other related services;
Interfaces with users, consultants, technical teams and vendors for maximum guidance in determining the most appropriate selection of server, applications or storage technologies; provides consulting, instruction, direction and technical assistance to other departments as required for server, applications, storage or backup related objectives;
Designs, plans, leads and manages server, network, applications, security and operating system(s), storage devices and application projects; utilizes tools and scripts to create and manage system and/or application processes;
Under minimal supervision and direction, performs the standard and advanced installation, monitoring and updating of the various Operating system families: Microsoft Windows Sever, VMware ESXi;
Works with team to maintain Enterprise Backup and Recovery solutions, as well as perform advanced configuration and troubleshooting. This includes performing backups and restores, adjusting scheduled backups, local and offsite media management, Litigation Holds, monitoring backup and restore success, performing agent installs and backup software updates on a regular basis;
Creates and maintains documentation that addresses server operations specific to Town operations that are not available in other documented materials; develops documentation, checklists and processes for communicating appropriate support information to the Town helpdesk; provides training as appropriate.
Installs, monitors, maintains, and decommissions physical and virtualized server and storage infrastructure hardware in both a standard and advanced level capacity with minimal supervision and direction;
Identifies improvement opportunities. Examples include but not limited to tools, processes, procedures, installation, configuration and troubleshooting techniques;
Implements and monitors appropriate security procedures to safeguard the Town infrastructure from physical harm, viruses, unauthorized users and potential data loss;
Develops and monitors appropriate performance metrics to detect and correct server or storage performance deficiencies;
Under minimal supervision and direction, provides standard and advanced support and administration of the following critical infrastructure services: Network File, DHCP, Network Printing, DNS, Active Directory, LDAP, AD Group Policy, and VMware vCenter;
Performs the configuration of advanced storage connectivity, advanced availability options such as clustering and load balancing, advanced application security using SSL Certs, Firewall rule request development, and other similar configurations as needed;
Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation;
Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (at job entry)
Education and Experience:
Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering and four years of experience in designing and supporting local and wide area networks server hardware, operating systems and applications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
AZ Driver s License.
System Engineer certification from Cisco, Microsoft, Linux, SAN and/or storage technologies or other appropriate industry-recognized certification preferred.
Maintain all certifications/licenses required at job entry.
May require PD background check.
Full Time
