Java Backend Developer - Search Engine (f/m/d)

Your future team

• You will be part of our search department, which is fully responsible for building a scalable search engine that can serve 100 million users each month, by applying a microservice approach using Java 11, K8S, Elasticsearch 7, Redis and AWS with response time < 300ms.
• You will work in a cross-functional team alongside other Backend Developers, Frontend Developers, Designers and Product Managers. Together you will own part of the Holidu Search product.

Our Tech Stack

• We are writing our applications with a micro-service approach, using Java 11 with Spring Boot, running on Kubernetes.
• Data storage with Elasticsearch 7, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.
• Streaming and queuing systems like Kafka and ActiveMQ.
• Heavy usage of AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Git
• Web and Node.js applications written with TypeScript.
• Native iOS and Android Apps written with Swift and Kotlin.
• Monitoring with ELK, Grafana and internally developed technologies.

Your role in this journey

• You will be part of the team which is fully responsible for our search engine and all related technologies
• As a software engineer at Holidu you will be responsible for developing features from ideation to production deployment
• Daily releases are part of your role, always assisted by our QA department
• You will take part in maintaining and extending our Elasticsearch clusters
• As your features will be used by 100 million users each month, monitoring via Grafana and other tools will be part of your daily work
• You will drive projects and proactively improve our systems and the way we use them
• You will have a lot of freedom to implement your own ideas on how to improve and develop our products and systems further

Your backpack is filled with

• A degree in Computer Science, or a related field
• You have professional development experience in Java, after or during your studies.
• Ideally you have worked or you have strong motivation to work with AWS, Elasticsearch, microservices, Kubernetes, and the rest of our tech stack
