Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits, appliances, systems, facilities, and related electrical controls and devices. Assign, direct and review the work of lower level employees. Assist in the training of new personnel.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards
Installs, monitors performance and maintains various electrical equipment (e.g. motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, transformers, etc.,) for hazards, adjustments or replacement.
Interprets plans, sketches, wiring diagrams, and specifications or verbal instructions.
Repairs, installs, replaces, and test select electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
Install disconnects lights, devices and electrical panels install motors, motor control circuits, electrical systems in hazardous locations and transformers; install intrusion alarm systems and grounding systems in general facilities.
Perform periodic switchgear maintenance of relays and control switches troubleshoot switchgear circuits and control switches; replace circuit components.
Inspect and maintain power conditioners, and grounding systems in general and electronic facilities.
The Electrician may work with his assistant and other maintenance workers such as Carpenter, Plumber, or Painter to complete an assigned task.
Requisitions material and maintains stock.
Supervises compliance with standards of safety.
Periodically checks all the electrical circuits and equipment for preventive maintenance.
