Develop/implement/evaluate departmental strategy, policies and procedures in line with hospital vision.
Responsible to provide comprehensive nutritional care, which is patient focused and cost effective.
In accordance with physician order, develop, individualized nutrition care plans based on patient's age, gender, diagnosis, pain level, preferences, and religious practices.
Perform nutritional assessments as required. Understands patient’s food preferences and arranges daily diets.
Develop customized nutritional diet plans for patients/customers to meet nutritional requirements and physician's orders.
Meet patients/customers, obtain medical history and reason for visit; Coordinate activities with the kitchen to ensure quality of the food served to the patients.
Prepare special menus for patients suffering from diabetes, cardiac issues, or other conditions where therapeutic diets are prescribed.
Visit patients and to obtain feedback and information about food intolerance.
Advise patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection and preparation. Give diet instruction to inpatients and outpatients upon request of physicians.
Motivate patients to adhere to diet plan. Meet with patients/customers regularly to assess progress and to administer any changes needed.
Educate patients on food groups, portion sizes and exchange foods.
