The Board of Directors of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation is delighted to announce that Orascom Construction has been selected to create the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center in the area of Cairo on 6 October.
The 300-bed specialized cardiac center will be built on 27 acres of land with a gross land capacity of 36.5 acres, rendering it the most prominent cardiovascular treatment and research facility in the country.
As reported by a leading daily, Prof Sir Magdi Yacoub said, “the decision to award the contract of Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre- Cairo to OC represents a milestone in the long road of guaranteeing excellence, at every level. At long last, the dream of creating an expanded world-class cardiovascular center, embodying the spirit of the Aswan Heart Centre, dedicated to serving humanity, Science, and Medicine, without discrimination, is becoming a reality. This is the direct result of a large team of people who strongly believe in the cause, with the enthusiastic support of the Egyptian, regional and global international community. I am honored and humbled to be part of this endeavor.”

Once completed, the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center in Cairo will provide free cardiovascular services and a patient capacity of over 120,000 per year.
It will have five operating rooms and five catheterization laboratories and a fusion center, a state-of-the-art imaging center, a world-class 5000 square meter research and engineering facility, a 4000 square meter learning and testing facility, and the Emergency Department.
