Purpose of the Role:
The General Manager Retail Distribution will lead the retail distribution operations nationwide developing and executing strategies to drive sales expand the retail business and ensure the company achieves its growth and profitability objectives. This role requires an experienced leader to oversee recruitment training channel partnerships digital distribution and customer retention.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Distribution Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to grow the individual life business.
- Team Recruitment and Training: Build and train a skilled sales force aligned with business needs.
- Product Development: Lead product ideation market feasibility studies pricing and product launch readiness including system integration.
- Digital Sales: Drive direct sales through online and digital platforms focusing on increasing the digital share to optimize distribution costs.
- Channel Partnerships: Strengthen sales through bancassurance brokers and agency partnerships.
- Customer Retention: Manage and improve customer retention with a target conversion rate of 90% across the portfolio.
- Profitability: Drive retail business profitability through production growth cost optimization and portfolio diversification.
- Distribution Process: Oversee the endtoend management of retail distribution operations.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years in retail sales within a life insurance company.
- Managed a minimum life insurance sales portfolio of TZS 15 billion.
- At least 5 years experience managing a profit center.
- At least 5 years of managing partnership channels (e.g. bancassurance or large brokers).
- Led a distribution team of no fewer than 200 staff across multiple locations for at least 10 years.
- Experience with online/digital sales is an added advantage.
Skills: Advanced understanding of financial statements and strong leadership in team management and sales strategy.
Education:
- Associate Diploma from ACII UK III India or LOMA USA.
- CIM qualification or MBA in Sales & Marketing or General Management.
- Bachelor s degree from a recognized university.
