Roles and responsibilities

As the Cloud Platform Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in migrating our e-commerce platform from AWS to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), a critical project that will set the foundation for future growth. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring a smooth and efficient transition, with minimal disruption to ongoing operations. Beyond the migration, you will drive the overall strategy for optimizing our cloud infrastructure, ensuring it remains resilient, cost-effective, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities:

Migration Leadership: You will lead the migration of our e-commerce platform from AWS to GCP, overseeing every phase of the transition. Your primary focus will be ensuring that the migration is seamless, efficient, and secure while minimizing downtime and operational disruptions. This includes managing timelines, resources, and coordinating across teams to ensure smooth execution.

Platform Strategy: You will define and implement cloud platform strategies that align with our business goals. This involves evaluating the current infrastructure, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving innovation to enhance performance, scalability, and security on GCP.

Architecture Advisory: As an expert in cloud infrastructure, you will provide guidance on platform architecture, ensuring that GCP services are configured optimally for performance and security. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to design and implement solutions that meet both short-term and long-term business needs.

Mentorship and Team Development: Given the team's strong background in AWS, you will be responsible for mentoring engineers new to GCP, helping them transition their AWS skills to the GCP environment. You will foster a collaborative learning environment, ensuring the team develops the necessary expertise to manage and optimize our GCP infrastructure.

Desired candidate profile

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience with GCP services such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and more.
• GCP certifications such as Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Data Engineer, or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
• Proven experience leading cloud migration projects, particularly from AWS to GCP.
• Strong proficiency in programming and scripting languages (Python, Go, Java, Bash), as well as experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex cloud-related issues.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to mentor engineers and collaborate across teams.
