Roles and responsibilities

Smartcat is looking for a dynamic, data-driven professional to accelerate and optimize business growth by leveraging data analytics to support HR and Finance decision-making. This role will focus on creating actionable insights from people operations data, improving compensation processes, and designing intuitive dashboards that empower business leaders to make informed decisions. As a key player in the People Operations and Finance teams, you will own critical processes, from variable compensation payouts to talent density metrics, and contribute to a global workforce management strategy across 30+ countries and 20+ U.S. states.

Key Outcomes and Responsibilities

1. Improve Variable Compensation Payouts:
You will design, implement, and oversee an enhanced system and process for calculating and distributing variable compensation. By working closely with HR and Finance, you will ensure alignment with company objectives while improving efficiency and transparency in payouts.

2. Build Actionable Dashboards:
You will leverage HR and Finance data to create tailored dashboards for different user groups, offering key insights on performance, hiring trends, compensation, and employee development. These dashboards will help stakeholders make data-driven decisions to optimize business outcomes.

3. People Operations Dashboard:
A major responsibility will be to develop and manage a comprehensive People Operations dashboard that tracks and visualizes critical talent KPIs. This will enable the organization to monitor workforce efficiency, talent density, retention, and development, which are essential for driving sustainable growth.

4. Internal Equity and Benchmarking:
You will create systems to monitor and analyze people operations functions like hiring practices and rewards distribution to ensure internal equity. Leading compensation benchmarking for a global workforce, you’ll ensure Smartcat remains competitive across diverse regions, both internationally and within the U.S.

5. Total Rewards Benchmarking:
Prepare standardized templates and reports that allow Smartcat to effectively compare its current total rewards offerings with market standards. Your work will help the company maintain competitive compensation packages while also promoting internal fairness


Desired candidate profile

Key Requirements and Qualifications

Experience & Expertise:

  • 4+ years of experience in HR/data analytics or a related field with deep understanding of people operations metrics and KPIs.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, v-lookups, index matching, lambda functions, filtering, etc.).
  • Strong experience pulling and manipulating data from various platforms like Hubspot, Netsuite, Grafana, HiBob, Greenhouse, LinkedIn, BuiltIn, Gong, Metaview, etc.

Analytical Skills:

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and hypothesis testing. You should be comfortable synthesizing complex data to derive actionable insights.
  • A data-driven mindset, able to justify decisions with concrete metrics and continuously improve based on performance.

Adaptability & Mindset:

  • Growth-oriented with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Strong ownership, persistence, and focus are required to succeed in a high-intensity role.
  • Ability to receive and act on constructive feedback with openness to collaboration.

Hours and Availability:

  • The role requires alignment with U.S.-based working hours (9 am - 6 pm EST), ensuring close coordination with key stakeholders across the business.
