Your primary tasks will include diagnosing faults, performing maintenance, and repairing various types of CNC assets promptly and professionally to ensure they return to operational service. You will execute preventive maintenance tasks and planned work orders, providing feedback aimed at enhancing program efficiency.
You will study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine the dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, along with the sequence of operations and setup requirements. Additionally, you will calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut. This may involve entering commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media in accordance with established guidelines.
Verifying the conformance of finished workpieces to specifications using measuring and inspection tools will also be part of your responsibilities. You will understand and support the implementation of the Asset Management Policy, the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), and the Asset Management System. Efficiently managing maintenance contractors while ensuring compliance with company procedures is essential.
You will log the completion of work and maintain accurate work order history data in the IFS system. Adopting the 5S methodology—Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain—to uphold a high standard of workplace organization is crucial. Additionally, you may undertake special projects as needed and continuously seek to improve operations by reducing turnaround times and streamlining work processes. A commitment to providing seamless customer service is expected.
Qualifications
A diploma in technical engineering or an equivalent qualification is required.
Experience
Candidates should have a minimum of 9-12 years of practical experience in a related field, with hands-on experience in CNC machines being essential. Familiarity with the IFS system is advantageous, as is knowledge of OSHA and/or NEBOSH standards and practices. Proficiency in MS Office applications will be beneficial. A solid understanding of health and safety practices, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of shipyard CNC assets, along with the ability to comprehend engineering and technical information, is critical. Strong planning and prioritization skills are also necessary for success in this role.
