As a pivotal member of our organization, the FLS Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring effective fire and life safety measures across various construction sites. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and overseeing safety systems that protect both personnel and property.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will develop and implement comprehensive fire and life safety strategies tailored to each construction project. This involves conducting thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses related to fire safety, identifying potential risks, and proposing effective mitigation measures. You will collaborate closely with design teams to ensure that all projects comply with fire and life safety codes and standards, integrating safety considerations into the overall project design.
You will be responsible for reviewing and approving fire safety plans, which include critical elements such as evacuation routes and emergency procedures. Regular inspections of fire protection systems and safety equipment will be part of your duties, ensuring that all systems are operational and meet regulatory requirements. Providing training and guidance on fire safety procedures to project teams and workers is also essential, fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
Coordination with local fire authorities will be necessary to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, and you will manage all documentation related to fire safety inspections and audits. In the event of fire incidents or emergencies, your quick response and effective management will be vital to minimizing risk and ensuring safety.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in fire and life safety engineering within the construction industry is required. You should have a strong understanding of fire safety codes, standards, and best practices, with proven experience in conducting fire risk assessments and audits.
The ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams is essential, along with excellent communication and presentation skills. A detail-oriented approach and strong organizational skills will help you manage multiple tasks effectively. Familiarity with relevant fire safety software and tools is advantageous, and a professional certification in fire safety engineering will be considered a plus.
