The QC Engineer (Corrosion) plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and longevity of metal structures within the refinery environment. Requirements:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess an Engineering degree or a B.Sc. in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Chemical, Production, Civil, Fabrication, or a related field. A strong academic background is essential, as it provides the foundation for understanding the complex interactions that lead to corrosion in industrial settings.
Additionally, candidates should have extensive experience in the refinery, petrochemical, or fertilizer industries. A minimum of four years of hands-on experience in in-service inspection is required. This experience should include working in environments where metal deterioration is a significant concern, allowing the engineer to develop a deep understanding of the factors influencing corrosion rates and material performance.
Familiarity with the latest industry codes and standards is also essential. The engineer should be well-versed in API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, TEMA, and NACE standards, as these guidelines are critical for ensuring compliance and best practices in corrosion management. Knowledge of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodology is preferred, as it allows for a more strategic approach to assessing and prioritizing inspection activities based on the likelihood of failure and potential consequences.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, enabling them to interpret data related to corrosion rates and environmental factors effectively. They should also demonstrate excellent communication abilities, as the role involves preparing detailed reports and presenting findings to various stakeholders.
