Continuous assessment of course objectives and instructional methods is crucial for enhancing both teaching and learning experiences. By implementing formative and summative assessments, educators can gauge student understanding and adjust their instruction to improve attainment of course objectives and program outcomes.
Familiarity with diverse instructional delivery methods, such as digital platforms, group activities, and portfolio assessments, allows educators to present educational content in ways that cater to different learning styles. Utilizing evidence-based research and personal expertise further enriches the learning environment. Proficiency in learning management systems, including Blackboard, is important for effectively organizing course materials and facilitating communication with students.
Preparing a comprehensive course syllabus is vital, encompassing approved student learning objectives and outcome evaluation criteria. Collaboration with program faculty, affiliated institutions, and governmental agencies ensures that educational offerings align with both Abu Dhabi and national priorities in food science. Understanding ACEND accreditation standards and working alongside faculty and administrators to ensure compliance is also necessary for maintaining program quality.
Support for ADU’s outcome initiatives includes refining course assignments and evaluation tools, as well as participating in data analysis discussions to inform program and course improvements. Facilitating the development and revision of curricula is essential, ensuring alignment with program descriptions, learning outcomes, course objectives, and the standards set by the Commission for Academic Accreditation.
Engagement in university life through attendance at commencement ceremonies, faculty meetings, department discussions, committee sessions, and professional development programs is also a key component of the role.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field from an internationally accredited university, preferably one ranked in the top 200 according to QS World University Rankings 2022. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of teaching experience and a proven track record in teaching, program planning, and problem-solving. A strong record of peer-reviewed publications is required, with specific h-index benchmarks depending on the academic rank. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with a familiarity with ACEND accreditation standards and an understanding of the grant university system's mission regarding academic excellence and community engagement.
