Roles and responsibilities
The Group Finance Associate you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations and strategic decision-making of the company. Key Responsibilities:
1. Governance and Internal Control
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
- Develop a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management Framework for the group to identify, assess, and manage risks.
- Lead the internal audit function, ensuring that internal audit services are provided effectively across the group.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Develop and ensure adherence to SOPs, policies, and controls to standardize processes across the group.
- Recommend and implement improvements to systems, policies, processes, and controls.
2. Management of financial accounting processes at the group
Customer invoices management
- Ensure that all customer invoices are accurately generated and sent out promptly.
- Ensure that these invoices are recorded in the accounting system.
- Ensure payments are tracked and received as per the company’s policy.
Payment management
- Ensure that all invoices issued to group companies are paid on time and recorded correctly in the accounting system
Bank and credit card reconciliation
- Monthly Reconciliation: Ensure that bank and credit card statements are reconciled with the accounting system every month.
Fixed assets reconciliation
- Ensure the reconciliation of fixed assets is completed monthly.
- Ensure that depreciation entries are accurately recorded.
Loans reconciliation
- Ensure that loans are reconciled each month.
- Record the appropriate journal entries for these loans.
Monthly closure of financial reports
- General Ledger Reconciliation: Maintain a file for monthly general ledger reconciliations with all supporting documents.
- Ensure these reconciliations are reviewed by the group financial accountant and Group Financial Director.
- Ensure that after the review, the books are closed in the accounting system to maintain the integrity of financial transactions and reports.
Desired candidate profile
Must have
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree and fully qualified accountancy certification like CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CIA, etc
- 4+ years of accounting / finance and/or controller experience
- Experience working within the accounting or operational finance department of a global entity
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent working knowledge of ERPs and financial software (preferably QuickBooks) and Microsoft office tools especially advanced excel
- High work ethic, Strong leadership and team building abilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Willing to travel occasionally to our different markets
Nice to Have
- Experience in carbon project development is a huge plus.
- An understanding of customers and business culture in Sub-Saharan Africa.
