We are seeking a skilled PL/I Mainframe Assembler Developer to join our team in Munich, Germany. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about mainframe technologies and have a strong background in programming with PL/I. Key Responsibilities:

As a PL/I Mainframe Assembler Developer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining applications using PL/I and SQL (DB2).
• Writing and optimizing PL-SQL code to enhance database functionality.
• Creating, modifying, and troubleshooting JCL scripts for batch processing.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate MQ/ABSCom for message handling.
• Working with Oracle databases to ensure seamless data management.
• Engaging in UNIX environment tasks as needed for application support.
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to the continuous improvement of coding practices.

• Work Environment:

  This position allows for flexibility, requiring only 1-2 days onsite in Munich each month. The remainder of the work can be conducted remotely, providing a balance between collaboration and personal flexibility. You will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and continuous learning.

Desired candidate profile

Required Skills:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following skills:

• Proficiency in PL/I programming language and experience with mainframe systems.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, particularly with DB2 databases, and experience with PL-SQL.
• Familiarity with Job Control Language (JCL) for batch processing tasks.
• Experience with message queuing systems, specifically MQ/ABSCom.
• Background in Oracle databases, including data manipulation and retrieval.
• Basic knowledge of UNIX systems and command-line operations.

Desirable Skills:

While not mandatory, candidates with insurance domain knowledge will have a competitive advantage. Understanding the specific requirements and workflows within the insurance industry can enhance your contributions to our projects.

Contract Details:

The initial employment contract will be for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.
