Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking two highly skilled technical consultants to drive impactful projects that promote economic and social transformation in Africa and the Middle East. Our focus is on empowering young people, women, and marginalized communities. The selected candidates will build upon our existing initiatives in human development, particularly in social sector financing and youth empowerment, as well as related areas like disaster finance. This role aims to generate innovative consulting projects that create measurable value in targeted regions.

As a technical consultant, you will lead the design, execution, and quality assurance of economics-based diagnostic work. The ideal candidate will:

• Contribute to projects that facilitate economic and social transformation in Africa and the Middle East, particularly for young people, women, and marginalized groups.
• Build on our current initiatives in human development, social sector financing, youth empowerment, and disaster finance to create distinctive consulting projects that deliver tangible outcomes in the specified geographical areas.
• Assume a senior leadership role, overseeing the design, delivery, and quality of economic diagnostic work within the organization.
• Collaborate with decision-makers and stakeholders to pinpoint opportunities for impactful interventions and strategic partnerships aligned with our mission.
• Leverage expertise in economics and social development to foster positive change in communities across the focus regions.
• A commitment to delivering high-quality work and continuously improving methodologies and approaches.
• Experience in international development, public policy, or regulatory economics is advantageous.
• Proficiency in English and either Arabic or French is preferred.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• A Master's or Ph.D. in Economics, Econometrics, or a related field from a reputable institution.
• At least 6 years of experience in economic research and analysis, ideally in a consulting context.
• Strong skills in econometric modeling, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools such as Stata, R, or Python.
• Proven expertise in applying economic theory to practical problems and developing innovative solutions, focusing on sector performance and diagnostic tools including budget analysis, Public Expenditure Reviews (PERs), Public Expenditure Tracking Surveys (PETs), Benefit Incidence Analysis, and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex concepts into clear and concise reports.
• Strong leadership and project management abilities, with a proven track record in prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing client expectations.
