Roles and responsibilities

The Sales Engineer position at Genetec in Saudi Arabia plays a crucial role in bridging technical expertise with customer needs. Collaborating closely with diverse teams—including Sales, Field Project Engineers, Pre-Sales Engineers, and Sales Networks—this role positions the Sales Engineer as the primary technical point of contact for customers and sales teams.

A key responsibility of the Sales Engineer is to develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of Genetec's software and hardware products. This knowledge enables the Sales Engineer to define solutions that align with the specific requirements of customers and partners, ensuring that Genetec’s offerings effectively address market needs. Building and nurturing excellent relationships with all stakeholders is essential, as it fosters trust and collaboration, driving successful sales and implementation processes.

The Sales Engineer is also tasked with presenting high-level demonstrations of Genetec’s comprehensive product range. These presentations not only showcase the functionality and benefits of the products but also serve as a platform for engaging potential customers and partners. Technical support for sales teams is another critical aspect of the role, providing them with the necessary insights to respond effectively to customer specifications.

Close collaboration with the technical support team ensures a seamless transition from pre-sales to post-sales, facilitating the successful implementation of solutions. This partnership is vital for maintaining customer satisfaction and ensuring that the systems function as intended.


Desired candidate profile

Participation in specialized security trade shows, exhibitions, and seminars is an essential part of the Sales Engineer’s duties. These events provide opportunities to network with industry professionals, showcase Genetec’s innovations, and stay updated on market trends. Additionally, writing white papers and becoming an expert on Genetec solutions enhances the engineer's credibility and visibility in the security sector.

The role also involves providing technical feedback from the field to upstream Product Management teams. This feedback loop is crucial for refining existing products and informing the development of future solutions.

Candidates for the Sales Engineer position should possess an engineering degree in electronics, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of professional experience in customer-facing roles, ideally within the technology or security sectors. Previous experience in a pre-sales capacity is advantageous, as are strong oral presentation skills, analytical abilities, and incident resolution skills. Knowledge of the security market and experience in a multicultural, international environment are also essential.

Moreover, familiarity with the local security landscape and prior experience as a security system installer, commissioner, or system integrator can significantly enhance a candidate’s qualifications. The role may require travel 30-40% of the time, underscoring the need for flexibility and adaptability.
