Roles and responsibilities

The Data Center Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our data center, including infrastructure management, staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a technical background, and a commitment to maintaining high levels of service availability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the data center, ensuring efficient functioning of all systems and services.
  • Implement and monitor operational policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Team Leadership:

  • Manage a team of data center technicians and engineers, providing training and mentorship.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and foster a collaborative work environment.

• Infrastructure Oversight:

  • Ensure proper functioning of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and security systems.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams on upgrades, maintenance, and repairs.

• Capacity Planning:

  • Monitor capacity and utilization metrics to optimize resources and plan for future growth.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to forecast data center needs and implement scalable solutions.

• Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security policies.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

• Budget Management:

  • Assist in developing and managing the data center budget, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

• Vendor Management:

  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure the timely delivery of services and equipment.

• Reporting:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on data center performance, incidents, and projects to senior management.

Desired candidate profile

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in data center operations, with at least 2 years in a management role.
• Strong understanding of data center technologies, including servers, storage, networking, and virtualization.
• Experience with data center management software and tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices (e.g., ITIL, ISO, ANSI/TIA).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or related.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and hybrid data center environments.
