Roles and responsibilities

We're seeking a vital member for our dynamic Mobile Development team. As a Senior Android Engineer, you will be crucial in researching, designing, testing, deploying & maintaining high-performance Android applications that enable seamless and scalable transactions within the MENA region.

Drawing on your proficiency in Android development, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining best-in-class applications aimed at giving the best user experience to all of our mobile users to create unique experiences only Tamara can provide.

With a proven track record of connecting Android applications to back-end services, you will collaborate with a diverse ecosystem of talented engineers, designers, analysts, product experts, and other cross-functional team members to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements and ultimately revolutionize the way millions of users shop, pay, and bank.

Your Responsibilities

• Research, design, test, deploy & maintain high performance Android applications which are used by customers & partners
• Design, build and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable Kotlin code
• Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
• Debugging and root cause analysis
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
• Analysing and maintaining product features

Desired candidate profile

• 5+ years of relevant experience as a Android Engineer with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
• Ability to design applications around natural user interfaces, such as "touch."
• Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as QR code scanning, fingerprint authentication...
• Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for everyday tasks
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
• A knack for benchmarking and optimization
• Understanding of Google's Android design principles and interface guidelines
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git (we're using Gitlab)
• Familiarity with continuous integration (we're using Gitlab CI/CD pipeline)
