Job description

We are seeking a talented and a highly motivated senior research scientist in bioinformatics/statistical genomics/AI to join a large team of the Medical and Population Genomics Lab, Sidra Medicine, Qatar. Their role is to help drive translation-oriented research in the lab, focusing on unravelling the molecular underpinning of biological traits and diseases prevalent in the Middle East, notably pediatric neurological disorders, ultimately leading to drug target discovery and patient stratification. This will involve analysis of large-scale multi-modal datasets (genetic data including long read, multi-omic, imaging and EHRs) using state of the art computational, statistical methods and machine learning (AI).

The senior research scientist will be responsible for contributing to study design and , scientific presentation and publication in line with the department’s research program. Also, they will take part in lab management and wiring of research grants. They will be expected to be productive, interactive with other research personnel, and provide training to undergraduate and graduate students.
