Overview:

A globally recognized firm is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join their Carriers team remotely. The Carriers team is responsible for developing new features building infrastructure and maintaining current services.

As a Senior Engineer you will provide leadership and oversight in technical design systems architecture and coding for both your team and the broader Engineering team.

Note: This is a 6month contract position working fulltime (40 hours/week).

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development:

Design implement test and deploy backend services with high Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that can handle millions of requests daily.

Ensure scalability and maintainability through microservices decoupling concerns from the data model job queuing application layering and containerbased software distribution.

Enhance and build out the CI/CD pipeline for smooth safe production releases via automated testing and verification.

System Performance:

Verify and ensure system performance and correctness in response time and throughput.

Architect new systems and refactor existing ones for optimal performance and reuse.

Collaboration & Leadership:

Participate in peer reviews testing and design reviews for new features products and systems.

Collaborate with business teams to provide early input on new product ideas and functionality.

Mentor junior engineers promoting best practices in software engineering.

Operational Metrics:

Define implement and monitor operational metrics to ensure performance and quality.

Work with urgency and iterate quickly within an agile process.

Qualifications:

Experience:

7 years of experience in backend software development.

Python: 5 years of coding experience.

Django: 5 years of experience with the Django framework.

SQL: 5 years of experience with SQL databases.

Handson experience with AWS cloud services is mandatory.

Past experience building and supporting scalable APIs services or applications.

Education:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Skills:

Strong proficiency in serverside programming languages (e.g. Python Go Java Ruby).

Experience working with serverside MVC frameworks (e.g. Django .NET Spring Rails Phoenix).

Exceptional problemsolving skills and the ability to translate business challenges into technical solutions.

Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

Deep understanding of customer needs and a passion for customer success.

Ability to foster a culture of innovation and build for scale.

Requirements:

Nationality: Candidates from Latin America (except Cuba and Venezuela) and Europe will be considered.

Experience: Minimum of 6 years in software development with at least 5 years of handson experience with Python Django and SQL.

AWS Experience: Mandatory handson experience with AWS cloud services.

Communication: Excellent spoken and written English skills.
