Job Title: Project Manager III Engineering

Mission: This role involves assisting in the management of consultants and contractors who are responsible for designing constructing and installing facilities stations tracks systems buildings bridges and other features related to the transit system or other capital projects. The Project Manager III is responsible for ensuring timely completion of specific light rail construction or systems installation segments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the Director of Capital Projects.
- Oversee the design process ensuring that consultants adhere to Metros design criteria.
- Coordinate with relevant Agency departments to review design submittals addressing all feedback received.
- Ensure compliance with NEPA requirements and secure all necessary permits and agreements.
- Verify that all work and materials meet contract specifications.
- Document field changes to contract drawings and ensure they are incorporated into the final record drawings.
- Witness inspect and conduct factory acceptance testing as required; document all test results in the Field Inspection Report Log.
- Ensure contractor adherence to safety and QA/QC plans.
- Assist in preparing construction and design cost estimates.
- Maintain a Daily Inspection Diary documenting inspection testing management activities site conditions contractor interactions progress workforce details materials used and onsite equipment.
- Prepare final inspection Punch Lists and oversee the completion of all listed items.
- Identify materials that require testing review test results and ensure any necessary remedial actions are taken.
- Communicate and support organizational goals effectively interact with individuals and groups at all levels maintain relationships with external organizations and keep all stakeholders informed.
- Coordinate project plans and schedules with other activities promptly report delays and issues and take action to maintain effective coordination ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Review plans and specifications to ensure they meet construction standards and practices.
- Coordinate with private utility companies for utility relocations obtain estimates write purchase requisitions monitor progress and approve payments.
- Monitor and review consultant work meet with Agency management and staff to advise on activities and resolve issues affecting project timelines.
- Organize and attend meetings with contractors to discuss project details specifications unusual conditions and the contractors schedule.
- Develop plans to address unexpected situations new developments and changes in the business environment; prepare for emergencies anticipate events and respond appropriately to changing project conditions.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Expertise in engineering design and construction project management.
- Understanding of building materials equipment construction practices and techniques.
- Familiarity with federal state and local construction activity laws and regulations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computeraided drafting and cost estimating.
- Experience using personal computers and relevant software applications.
- Ability to read and interpret project drawings specifications geotechnical reports and other contract documents.
- Competency in using software for word processing spreadsheets and database applications.
Education & Experience:
- Degree: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field; P.E. certification preferred.
- Experience: 5 10 years of experience in Civil Structural Architectural Engineering or a related field.
