Head of Development

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the hiring process and assemble a high-performing development team for our new Jordan Office, ensuring the recruitment of top talent to drive our technological and business goals.
• Lead and manage a team of developers, architects, and engineers in the design, development, and maintenance of our financial services platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry standards.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of mobile applications for iOS and Android, ensuring seamless user experiences and robust functionality.
• Ensure the backend API, developed in Java, meets performance, security, and scalability requirements.
• Define and execute the technology roadmap for the platform, prioritizing initiatives, and investments to enhance functionality, performance, and security.
• Collaborate closely with product management, business stakeholders, and regulatory teams to understand requirements, define solutions, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Architect and design scalable, resilient, and secure platform solutions, leveraging best practices in software engineering, cloud computing, and financial services technology.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, experimentation, and learning.
• Manage vendor relationships and third-party integrations, evaluating and selecting technology partners to support platform development and operations.
• Ensure the quality and integrity of the platform codebase through effective development standards, processes, and quality assurance practices.
• Monitor platform performance, availability, and security, implementing proactive measures and optimizations to maintain operational excellence.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in the financial services sector, providing strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree (e.g., Master's) preferred.
• Extensive experience in software development leadership roles within the financial services industry, with a strong track record of delivering scalable, secure, and compliant platform solutions.
• Deep understanding of financial services technology, including trading platforms, banking systems, risk management solutions, and regulatory reporting frameworks.
• Strong expertise in mobile application development for iOS and Android, including knowledge of frameworks such as Swift, Kotlin, and React Native.
• Proven experience with backend API development and maintenance using Java.
• Strong technical expertise in platform architecture, cloud computing, and modern software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps).
• Experience with relevant technologies and frameworks such as Java, .NET, SQL, AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functional and organizational boundaries.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering business value and driving results in a dynamic and regulated environment.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) and familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS, FINRA, SEC) are highly desirable.
