Job Description: Junior Millwright (60% Mechanical 40% Electrical)

Salary: R20000 R25000 per month
Company: Leading Plastic Manufacturing Company specializing in large moulds (tables chairs crates etc.)
Position Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Junior Millwright to join a team at a prominent plastic manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background with substantial electrical knowledge focusing on maintaining and repairing large mould injection moulding machines. This role is perfect for a Trade Tested Millwright with experience in plastics aiming to grow and develop in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Maintenance (60%):
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on large mould injection moulding machines and associated equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Conduct mechanical repairs and overhauls on production machinery including pumps motors gearboxes and conveyors.
- Assist in the installation setup and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
- Electrical Maintenance (40%):
- Conduct electrical troubleshooting and repairs on moulding machines control panels and related systems.
- Perform regular inspections and testing of electrical components to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Assist in the programming calibration and maintenance of PLCs sensors and other automation systems.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations.
- Operational Support:
- Collaborate with the production team to minimize disruptions and enhance productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities including work performed parts used and time spent.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize machinery performance and production processes.
- Provide technical support and training to junior staff members as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Minimum N3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Trade Tested Millwright certification.
- Red seal
- Experience:
- Proven experience in a plastic manufacturing environment particularly with large mould injection moulding machines.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Familiarity with PLCs and automation systems is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Excellent problemsolving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools as well as diagnostic equipment.
