Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our healthcare team at a correctional facility located in Palestine Texas. The LVN will play a crucial role in providing quality healthcare services to inmates within a secure and structured environment. MUST HAVE UTMB CLEARENCE Work 3days 4day off
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Conduct initial patient screenings and assessments.
- Monitor and record patient vitals and health metrics.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust patient care plans.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Document all nursing assessments interventions and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with medical and legal standards including HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare and submit reports on patient health status and medical incidents.
- Health Education:
- Educate patients on preventive health measures and selfcare techniques.
- Provide counseling and support to patients dealing with health challenges.
- Foster a supportive and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Facility Operations:
- Assist in maintaining a safe clean and organized healthcare environment.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure medical equipment is properly maintained.
- Participate in staff meetings training sessions and continuing education programs as required.
Requirements:
- Current LVN license in the state of Texas.
- CPR certification (BLS).
- Experience in a clinical or healthcare setting preferred; correctional facility experience a plus.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently.
Work Environment:
- The position involves working in a secure correctional facility environment.
- Shift work may be required including evenings nights weekends and holidays.
- Ability to handle potentially stressful and unpredictable situations calmly and effectively.
