Job Purpose
The Business Development Manager is accountable for building and developing
commercial relationships with employers in order to build brand and
reputation deepen our engagement and further strategic and growth
objectives.
The role is responsible for managing existing partner relationships while also finding
new commercially focused business.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and planning
Contributes to the development of the business development plan for the
market ensuring that it reflects employer needs and market conditions
Identifies and progresses opportunities to grow business through
employer partnerships ensuring a clear and mutually beneficial proposition
Using agreed criteria identify target employers based on an understanding
of potential contribution
Works with relevant internal stakeholders to develop and deliver a plan of
business development activity for designated employers
Engagement
Develops and manages strong partnerships with employers to build
brand and reputation deepen our engagement and further
strategic and growth objectives
Plans and manages multilevel relationships and actively manages the sales
pipeline for all designated employers
Develops new and existing revenue streams with employers in order to
maximise opportunities and grow business
Works with partners to ensure that global solutions content and expertise are
leveraged and consistently implemented
Concludes agreements with employers for commercial relationships that
deliver against KPIs and targets
Promotes the qualification products and services to employers
encouraging takeup through presentations and other sales activities
Communicates changes to the qualification products and services to
employers in order to build advocacy
Ensures employers are supported including
accreditation in order to develop engagement and improve performance
Other
Understands economic and market trends education sector developments
competitor activities and product and service offering
Reports regularly on progress through the appropriate reporting mechanisms
Actively supports the wider work of the local market and contributes to the
improvement of local procedures and systems
Key Relationships
External
Employers existing and potential partners contacts at all levels
Internal
Accountable to the Lead Employer Relationships for the achievement of
objectives KPIs and targets
Other BDMs Membership Education and Public Affairs teams inmarket
global teams as and when required e.g. Content Development &
Commercialisation Partnerships & Recognition Professional Qualifications
Professional Insights
Knowledge Skills & Experience
Educated at least to degree level or equivalent
Demonstrable experience in business development and businesstobusiness
selling ideally in a professional service or education environment
Knowledge of business development frameworks processes and techniques
Understanding of accountancy and local regulatory frameworks is desirable
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build long term high quality
trusted relationships up to and including board level
Skilled networker and prospector with strong influencing and negotiation
