Job Title: Lead Studies Engineer Control and Protection HVDC
Location: Charlotte North Carolina
Job Description:
- Bs/Ms/Phd degree with 8 years experience in Electrical power engineering / control engineering and experience in power engineering industry
- Knowledge in high voltage applications power transmission systems power electronics and HVDC technology
- Expertise in control engineering and modelling of HVDC systems in the time domain and frequency domain
- Professional user of power system simulation programs (PSCAD/EMTDC Matlab/Simulink EMTPRV)
- Proficient in English and German preferable
- Dynamic performance studies within tender and project execution of HVDC projects
- Optimizing the dynamic behaviors of the HVDC converter to customer and national grid code requirements
- Analyzing subsynchronous torsional/control interactions and the harmonic converter impedance as well as potential interactions between the HVDC converter and other controlled devices in the power system
- Developing and validating simulation models for diverse EMT simulation tools
- Customer trainings for simulation models and presentation of study results to customer
- Continuous improvement and standardization of simulation models study procedures and methods processes in project execution as well as documentation of results
- Supporting the project management in technical discussions participating in customer meetings and coordinating external partners
