Junior Operator

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

In this role you will be responsible for for ensuring safety maintaining quality standards and meeting production requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Picking

• Operate a forklift.
• Ensure accurate picking of material for the product manufacturing planned to follow the picking sheet.
• Adherence to PPE policy and procedures.
• Ensure accurate removal all material from the decanting stations.
• Submit the picking sheet to the Production Supervisor at the end of the shift.

Safety

• Safety in your operating area is your responsibility.
• Test all emergencies areas daily for proper operation.
• Deviations must be reported immediately.

Decanting

• Use and implement decanting sheet for material picking to be used for production.
• Ensure that the scale has been verified for the day by Quality Supervisors.
• Ensure effective communication with Pickers about raw materials.

Quality

• Ensure adherence to quality standard operating procedures when managing spillages while decanting and avoid cross contamination.

Housekeeping

• Ensure adherence to housekeeping standard operating procedures clean as you work.
• Ensure all equipment always stay clean.
• Ensure that the floors are clear of damaged or reject product.

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS

• Matric certificate or Equivalent Qualification.
• 12 years experience in chemical manufacturing environment.
• Experience in working with picking & decanting raw materials is essential.
• 12 years experience operating a forklift.
• Demonstrate ability to read and interpret scales (i.e. kilograms vs grams whole numbers vs decimals)
• Have a valid forklift operating license that must be visible always when operating a forklift.
• Basic mathematical and verbal reasoning skills such as addition and subtraction verbal reasoning and reading comprehension.
• Good communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Numeracy skills.
• You will be expected to be driving a forklift and have knowledge of operating at least two machines.
