We operate across the greater Brisbane region and Western Sydney. We currently have vacancies on both the North and South side of Brisbane.
The role:
We are seeking talented reliable and passionate support workers to join our team. As a Support Worker you will support people living with disability through:
- Assisting participants with daily living activities and day to day support to meet the goals detailed in their individual plans. This could include assisting with general housework personal hygiene cooking or many other tasks.
- Supporting participants to access community events or services and with social outings and transport.
- Accurate record keeping including submitting progress notes for each shift and incident reports as appropriate.
- Providing support in a manner that is consistent and encourages and motivates the Participant to meet their goals and independent skills building through person centred practices.
- Promoting a stimulating caring and culturally appropriate environment for participants.
- Providing any required selfcare social and emotional support to the participant as required.
- Ensuring a professional boundary is maintained throughout the course of all support provided.
- Maintaining appropriate and effective communication with all stakeholders including team leaders peers and management.
We have general positions available for community access and inhome support as well as positions in Supported Independent Living Homes.
We are primarily seeking casual workers but will consider permanent positions for suitable SIL staff.
Requirements
This position will be ideal for candidates with:
- exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with participants and team members
- a passion and enthusiasm for care and support work in the disability sector
- an ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
The successful candidate will also possess:
- Certificate III Individual Support or equivalent (preferred)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willing to obtain)
- Covid Infection Control Certificate (completed previously or willing to obtain)
- NSW Drivers Licence
- Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificates
In addition our ideal candidate will also:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Mental health first aid training
- Medication management training
- Experience managing challenging behaviours
- Experience with PBSPs and restrictive practices
- Manual handling experience including hoisting
Reliability and punctuality are essential to see success in this role. An empathetic and nurturing attitude is necessary to ensure the needs of every participant is looked after with care. Professional and concise communication skills Ability to work independently as well as follow instructions Exceptional time management and organisational skills Strong candidates will have experience in a variety of settings within the disability services industry, as well as demonstrated experience working with people with a variety of disabilities from a range of backgrounds.
