Surgical Technologist

• Shift: Days 10 hours Monday to Friday 40hrs/week
  
• Work Location: Onsite; Redwood City CA
  

• Functions independently in the majority of services with minimal assistance. Capable of performing common emergency cases proficiently
  
• minimum of 2 years recent intraoperative experience in an acute care OR environment preferred; minimum 1 year of Surgery Center experience preferred; scrubbing experience highly desirable; strong orthopedic experience a bonus
  
• Solves problems rapidly with changes in the clinical situation
  
• Anticipates availability of equipment and prioritizes usage
  
• Sets up equipment independently
  
• Demonstrates critical thinking capabilities
  
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge and proficient practice in the first scrub role in the majority of surgical procedures as defined by SHC.
  
• Applies knowledge related to emergency situations and surgical procedures in the operating room
  
• Knowledge and theoretical understanding of normal/abnormal anatomy/physiology
  
• Knowledge and understanding of surgical procedures to anticipate needs/ requests from surgeons. Requests instruments and supplies based on procedures and case progress
  
• Ability to provide appropriate care based on the needs of the individual considering age culture and developmental issues.
  
• Knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology anticipates and responds to the needs of surgeons by requesting instruments/supplies based on procedure and case progress.
  
• Ability to provide leadership and influence others
  

Requirements

• Associate s Degree however Bachelor s degree preferred.
  

• BLS Basic Life Support required
  
• CRT Certified by the State of California Department of Public Health in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology
  

• Minimum of 2 year s recent intraoperative experience in an acute care OR environment preferred; minimum 1 year of Surgery Center experience preferred; scrubbing experience highly desirable; strong orthopedic experience a bonus
