One of our esteemed clients in the Shipbuilding industry is currently seeking a Design and Engineering Director with 12 years of experience alligning to the shipbuilding industry to be based in Dammam Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Overview
Manage the Design & Engineering activities related to subsidiaries including the development operations and design plans whilst ensuring the effective oversight on the compliance to set standards.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Align division goals processes and resource allocation with the organizational strategy while maintaining awareness of commercial and business objectives.
- Ensure the accomplishment of organizational unit objectives by managing staff; planning and evaluating organizational unit activities.
- Define objectives identifies and evaluates trends and options chooses a course of action and evaluates outcomes.
- Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements preparing an annual budget scheduling expenditures analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
- Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems and recommending system improvements.
- Support with strategic problems resolution and subjective decision making.
Managerial Responsibilities
- Supervise the entire work done by the team members and making sure it is completed on time without any delay.
- Lead the team to complete tasks and meet goals through delegation of responsibilities and supervising business operations.
- Set the vision and motivation of the team in order to achieve the sought objectives efficiently.
- Set appropriate and achievable deadlines.
- Track and report critical organizational unit performance results and escalate and negotiate business related issues to senior management.
- Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations planning monitoring and appraising job results.
Functional Responsibilities
- Implement strategy and plans for group research and development activity including conceptual design activity.
- Coordinate groupwide engagement of ship classification societies.
- Manage the oversight of shipyard requirements in coordination with Infrastructure Execution and Oversight.
- Support problem issue identification and rectification of subsidiary shipbuilding and MRO operations.
- Ensure effective monitoring of development operations to ensure the delivery in a timely and costly efficient manner.
- Monitor compliance to group technical policy of subsidiary design and engineering strategies plans and activities.
- Manage the oversight of the development of contractual requirements in projects in coordination with the Infrastructure Execution & Oversight
- Manage the oversight of the implementation and quality of the design plans and report on any deviation from design and ensure providing proper mitigation actions.
- Manage the oversight of the shipbuilding conversion repair and MRO activities in the subsidiaries operations whilst ensuring competence and effectiveness in the process.
- Manage the oversight of effective transportation installation testing and commissioning/ handover of new infrastructure properties equipment etc.
- Ensure quality standards for materials workmanship and final product are implemented.
- Manage the oversight on the compliance with relevant local and international standards throughout operations including health safety and security in alignment with HSEQ & QA function.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or any other similar field.
- 12 years of experience in shipbuilding design or any other related field including 6 years in a leadership role.
- Masters Degree in Engineering or any other similar field is preferred.
