Looking for an RRT for our 3x12 night shift.
The RT will provide both invasive and noninvasive forms of ventilation to patients; educate staff and students; review, collect and evaluate relevant clinical data on patients and use critical thinking skills to develop a plan of care. The RT will also communicate changes in the Respiratory Care plan with other healthcare team members, perform both basic and advanced procedures including arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, endotracheal intubation and assistance with bronchoscopy.
Essential Functions:
- Reviews, collects, and evaluates relevant clinical data.
- Performs both basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for age of population served.
- Communicates changes in the Respiratory Care plan with other healthcare team members.
- Provides effective education to patients, students, and other co-workers.
- Performs both fundamental and advanced diagnostic procedures including arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulmonary functions, and Bronchoscopies.
- Performs emergency and acute respiratory care procedures in accordance with established practice guidelines and in line with department policy and procedures.
- Actively participates in the department and hospital performance improvement activities.
- Assembles, checks, and corrects malfunctions and performs quality controls on Respiratory Care equipment.
- Maintains clinical and professional competency based upon established standards of practice.
- Provides oxygen services in accordance with department policy and procedures.
- Assists in patient resuscitation (Code Blue) and Medical Response Team (MRT) situations.
- Works closely with the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and provides support and advice as needed.
- Maintains department forms, logbooks, charges, and computer activities.
- Documents in hospital provider computer programs all clinical activities.
- Assists with Respiratory Care Assistants, providing guidance and direction.
- Assists with Respiratory Care Students in their educational process.
Required Education:
Associates degree is required
Bachelors degree is preferred
Required License:
Licensed by the North Carolina Board of Respiratory Care is required
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC is required
Required Certification:
American Heart Association BLS is required
ACLS, PAPS, NRP preferred
