Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, sustaining and improving all manufacturing processes, procedures and capabilities through fixture design, inspection techniques, tooling optimization, statistical process control, process improvement, and lean manufacturing techniques. This position will study the requirements for each production process and product, and determine the most efficient operations and equipment based on those requirements. Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer: Study, evaluate and support existing manufacturing processes and machine requirements, and implement improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency and speed. Design and implement quick-change tooling platforms to incorporate existing fixtures and support new products. Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources. Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations, and network performance. Resolve issues and delays in production. Ensure manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations/requirements. Define manufacturing process capability during first article manufacture and refine as necessary to support print requirements. Participate on new product development teams and identify initial manufacturing processes. Create manufacturing routing for new products. Support/enable manufacturing activities in all departments. Support supplier activities and development as needed. Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality. Incorporate LEAN analysis, reporting, and techniques into manufacturing processes. Follow, update and create (as required) QMS documents including procedures, instructions and forms. Develop and implement statistical process controls to support key control characteristics. Participate in design reviews. Test new and existing production procedures. Other tasks as assigned by management. Requirements of the Manufacturing Engineer: Engineering degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably Aerospace. Experience required: Strong working experience in a machine shop environment CNC Machining (Mill and Lathe) Understanding of metallurgy MIL-SPEC coatings and finishes LEAN training and team participation. T-004 Rev 01 9-20-22 Fixture design and implementation. Implementing quick-change tooling. Working with teams to design, build and implement tooling and inspection techniques to support efficiency and improvement activities. AS9100 QMS experience preferred. Familiar with Mastercam. Ability to perform engineering tasks related to manufacturing processes development.
