VP Engineering
(Full Time - Remote - Americas)

Our client has an essential mission: democratize healthcare access by providing affordable, high-quality, and on-demand service to patients while efficiently raising doctors’ access to patients unrestrained by geographic limitations.

We are looking to hire a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Team Lead with experience building go-to-market products. You will join an early-stage organization with a true “grassroots'' story. The founders are passionate about the project and the positive social impact it will have. The person will join our existing development team based in Brazil and Europe.

The potential candidate doesn´t need to have experience in healthcare to be a good fit; however, they should be passionate about medical inclusivity and building a service with a global reach.

The role:

• Delivery of full stack functionality on Core Products connecting patients to healthcare providers.
• Design and build the platform architecture to enable engineering teams to consume a scalable and extensible infrastructure platform.
• Collaborate with the product development team to identify and translate needs into a platform solution.
• Identify and lead technical initiatives to build clean, robust, and performant systems for the most critical healthcare data.
• Champion industry best practices and design patterns to drive engineering culture.
• Influence technical decisions that will impact the organization’s ability to deliver amazing experiences and products.
• Support what you build, including monitoring, performance tuning, and responding to incidents.
• Mentor and oversee software engineers from diverse backgrounds to nurture a culture of ownership, learning, automation, reuse, and engineering efficiency using software design patterns and industry best practices.
• Contribute to the delivery of OKRs, work with the product team to define KPIs, and meet SLAs.

Skills & passions:

• Extensive experience designing and building scalable applications utilizing various architecture patterns, including microservices, event-driven architecture, micro-batch systems, containerization, and multi-region/highly available systems.
• Ability to break out a monolithic architecture into domain-driven components and services.
• Lead a full stack development directly, delivering value to patients and providers using technologies like Kafka, Node.js, MongoDB, React.js, Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, Ruby, Docker, etc. (Hands-on experience in all technologies is NOT required)
