Must Have Skills
- Extensive experience with Database (SQL/Oracle) technologies and architecture
- Experience working with Database Encryption using EKMS and HSM (Preferably Thales Cipher Trust and Luna).
- Hands on knowledge on encrypting databases using TDE
- Good knowledge on different Database Encryption Methods
- Experience in Database Performance Tuning
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure, SQL 2019/2016/2014, Oracle 12c/19c
Nice To Have Skills
- Knowledge on PowerShell
- experience working with Azure Key Vault to secure Certificates, Cryptographic Keys etc
The Encryption Specialist is responsible for implementing the Database Encryption in MSSQL and Oracle databases using EKM and HSM providers. The resource should be willing to do research on new database technologies and products available in the market, perform POC and onboard the tool if found fit for our environment. The resource should have a deep understanding and hands-on experience in the High Availability and DR options. Resource should also have a good understanding on Database Security.
For this role, it is imperative to demonstrate strong personal leadership, be creative, proactive, self-leaner, a team player, and have a strong focus on business outcomes.
Implementing Encryption for SQL/Oracle Databases using EKMS and HSM.
Defining the standards and best practices for implementation of TDE using EKM provider and documenting them.
Perform POC on new database technologies/ features, document the processes followed and introduce the technology to the team.
Provide guidance to Database Operations Team in implementing new technologies.
Evaluate various tools available in market related to database monitoring/performance troubleshooting etc.
Ensure IT standards, audit and compliance requirements are understood, adhered to, and well documented.
Ensure IT operational documentation, build documents, processes and procedures are completed and maintained to a high standard.
Make sure that we have a robust and resilient backup solution implemented across all our database technologies.
Work with third party vendors to understand and bring in new solutions.
Provide technical leadership, coaching and coordinate with other teams for projects and initiatives.
Translate the requirements of stakeholders, Product Owner and Product Manager into actionable backlog items and a manageable roadmap.
Deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations/people.
Be able to make on the spot decisions based on direction from Product Owner and stakeholders.
Demonstrable experience working with Database Encryption using EKMS and HSM (Preferably Thales Cipher Trust and Luna).
Extensive experience with Database technologies and architecture.
Hands on knowledge on encrypting databases using TDE.
Good knowledge on different Database Encryption Methods.
Experience working with Microsoft Azure, SQL 2019/2016/2014, Oracle 12c/19c.
Experience with Opensource and NOSQL Databases like MySQL, MongoDB, Postgres, Cassandra, Cosmos etc.
Hands on experience working with Azure Key Vault to secure Certificates, Cryptographic Keys etc.
Experience in Database Performance Tuning.
Knowledge of Database Security best practices and standards.
Ability to research and identify tools that can be beneficial to the team in improving service availability or proactive alerting.
Knowledge on PowerShell.
Very Strong Problem Solving and Analytical skills.
Ability to write technical documentation and procedures.
Ability to work in a virtual team with an inclusive mindset and mindful of cultural differences.
Ability to communicate effectively with management, clients, and colleagues.
Ability to operate with independence based on objectives defined by leaders and with reduced supervision.
