Our food manufacturing client is looking to hire a Food Safety Quality Lab Supervisor (FSQ Lab Supervisor). The FSQ Lab Supervisor will provide support and assistance to the Wakefield, NE Food Safety & Quality Department. This position carries out responsibilities of Coordinating and supervising all department functions in a fair and consistent manner as well as recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve them.
Job Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelors degree in Food Science or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
3+ years supervisory experience in a food operation to include quality systems responsibilities.
Ability to effectively coordinate and supervise all department functions while motivating and developing personnel.
Ability to supervise department personnel in a fair and consistent manner.
Ability to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve.
Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and teaming skills
Key Responsibilities:
Supervises the day-to-day operation of the Microbiology, Chemistry and Process Laboratory.
Assumes technical responsibilities including operating various laboratory and office equipment as necessary.
Maintains ISO 17025 certification and compliance.
Coaches employees regarding problems encountered in daily operations.
Liaison with sister facilities to ensure accuracy of testing and reporting of results.
Assists with customer, regulatory and compliance audits as needed.
Maintains communication with various individuals concerning status of samples.
Supervises employees by scheduling work assignments, hiring, terminating, and evaluating performance.
Coordinates training for micro and chemistry lab personnel in the correct methodology.
Leads and coordinates the personnel who perform the inspection and testing of ingredients and final products by ensuring inspections are done correctly, correct decisions and inspections are done at the correct frequency.
Ensures quality hold activities, are performed and reported in a proficient manner (includes corrective action reporting and documentation).
Ensures raw materials and finished products hold and release in a timely manner.
Ensures that quality and production records are legible, accurate, complete, maintained, and easily retrieved.
Updates and maintains facility batch and quality related records as necessary.
