Roles and responsibilities

• Curriculum Planning and Instruction

  • Lesson Planning: Developing and delivering lessons that teach core mathematical concepts, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, measurement, and basic data analysis. These lessons are often designed to be interactive and fun, helping students engage with math in a meaningful way.
  • Teaching Basic Math Concepts: Introducing students to foundational concepts such as number recognition, counting, basic arithmetic operations, shapes, patterns, time, and money.
  • Adapting to Student Needs: Differentiating instruction based on the diverse learning styles and abilities of students. Some students may need additional support, while others may require more challenging material.

• Classroom Management

  • Creating a Positive Learning Environment: Fostering a classroom environment that is calm, focused, and conducive to learning. Establishing clear expectations, routines, and guidelines for behavior.
  • Engaging Students: Keeping students motivated by incorporating games, activities, and hands-on learning that makes math enjoyable and accessible.

• Assessing Student Progress

  • Regular Assessments: Administering regular quizzes, tests, assignments, and observations to gauge student understanding and progress.
  • Providing Feedback: Offering constructive feedback on assignments and assessments, helping students understand their mistakes and providing suggestions for improvement.
  • Tracking Progress: Keeping records of students' performance, identifying areas where students may need extra help, and adjusting teaching methods accordingly.

• Encouraging Problem Solving and Critical Thinking

  • Promoting Analytical Thinking: Encouraging students to think critically and solve problems logically. This includes teaching them how to break down complex problems into smaller, manageable steps.
  • Real-world Applications: Showing students how mathematics applies to everyday life, such as measuring ingredients for a recipe, telling time, budgeting money, or organizing data.

• Providing Individualized Support

  • Supporting Struggling Students: Offering additional assistance to students who may have difficulty grasping basic concepts, either through one-on-one instruction or small group work.
  • Enrichment for Advanced Students: Providing enrichment activities or challenges for students who grasp concepts quickly, keeping them engaged and helping them expand their math skills.

• Parental and Guardian Communication

  • Progress Updates: Communicating regularly with parents about their child’s progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. This can be through report cards, parent-teacher conferences, or informal check-ins.
  • Encouraging Learning at Home: Providing parents with resources, suggestions, or activities to support their child’s math learning at home.

• Professional Development

  • Staying Updated: Participating in professional development opportunities to stay up to date with best practices in math instruction, new teaching strategies, and curriculum changes.
  • Collaborating with Colleagues: Working with other teachers to plan interdisciplinary lessons, share strategies, and ensure that math instruction aligns with broader educational goals.

Desired candidate profile

• A passion for providing outstanding teaching and driven to provide education at an exceptional level. Teachers enjoy an outstanding school environment in which to deliver a dynamic and creative curriculum to motivated students.
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
• Teachers are expected to have a current license/certification in their home country with a minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience.
• IB PYP experience is preferred.
• Aspiration to work in a world class school with real prospects for enhancing their career.
