Overview
The IB PYP Homeroom Teacher plays a crucial role in delivering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). This innovative approach to education focuses on the development of the whole child and emphasizes inquirybased learning. The Homeroom Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging and nurturing learning environment where students can explore discover and connect their learning across various subjects. The teacher will facilitate a curriculum that encourages critical thinking creativity and personal development enabling students to become active participants in their own learning journey. As a key member of the educational team the Homeroom Teacher must collaborate with other staff communicate effectively with parents and adapt to the diverse needs of students ensuring an inclusive atmosphere. This role is essential to fostering a love for learning and guiding students in exploring the world around them.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging PYP inquirybased lesson plans.
- Create a positive stimulating classroom environment that fosters student growth.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Assess students progress through ongoing formative and summative evaluations.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and student outcomes.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching practices.
- Organize and facilitate studentled conferences and presentations.
- Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities and community service.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation of student achievements.

- Support the development of students social and emotional skills.
- Implement the IB philosophy and guidelines in daily teaching practices.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Education or a related field.
- Certification or training in the International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP is preferred.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in primary education.
- Strong understanding of inquirybased learning principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using technology for teaching and learning.
- Experience in multicultural and diverse educational settings.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet varying student needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
