Job Description
Overview
The OpenShift Administrator plays a critical role in the management and orchestration of containers using Red Hat OpenShift across our operations in India. This position is vital for ensuring that our container logistics run smoothly and efficiently which is essential for maintaining our competitive edge in todays digital landscape. The ideal candidate will interact with crossfunctional teams providing support and expertise on deployment scaling and management of containerized applications. The role requires a strong grasp of both OpenShift and Kubernetes as well as experience with CI/CD methodologies to streamline operations. As the OpenShift platform becomes increasingly integrated into our workflows the administrator will be tasked with ensuring best practices are followed and that the environment is optimized for performance security and scalability. Overall the OpenShift Administrator is critical in shaping the future of our cloud infrastructure and enhancing our operational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain OpenShift clusters in production and development environments.
- Deploy configure and upgrade OpenShift applications and resources.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate application builds and deployments.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery protocols are in place.
- Collaborate with software development teams to design and optimize infrastructure.
- Document processes configurations and changes for compliance and knowledge sharing.
- Stay updated on new OpenShift features and keep systems upgraded.
- Manage user access and permissions using OpenShifts rolebased access control.
- Integrate OpenShift with external source control systems.
- Bookkeeping cluster logs and metrics for analysis and reporting.
- Conduct security assessments and implement best practices.
- Participate in oncall duties as part of a shared operational management team.
- Provide training and support to other team members.
- Engage in troubleshooting networked environments with containerbased applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related fields.
- 5 years of experience in Linux system administration.
- 2 years of handson experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash Python or similar languages.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins GitLab CI or similar.
- Familiarity with networking concepts including firewalls and load balancers.
- Prior experience supporting containerized applications in production.
- Solid understanding of cloud computing platforms such as AWS Azure or GCP.
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools (e.g. Terraform Ansible).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus or Grafana.
- An understanding of IT security principles and practices.
