Job Summary
The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the health centers facilities ensuring they align with the organizations strategic goals and regulatory requirements. This role involves strategic planning leadership budget management and ensuring compliance with Joint Commission CMS and local regulations. The Director will act as the Hospital Safety Officer leading efforts to maintain a safe efficient and compliant facility.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Budget Management:
Develop and follow a business plan that aligns with the health centers strategic goals.
Participate in strategic planning particularly in capital equipment allocation and capital improvements.
Schedule and manage equipment installations and capital improvement projects.
Operate within budget guidelines to ensure costeffective operations.
Facility Maintenance & Safety Compliance:
Assign work orders and preventive maintenance tasks ensuring timely completion.
Act as Chapter Leader for Life Safety and Environment of Care adhering to Joint Commission standards.
Serve as the Hospital Safety Officer and Chair the Safety Committee.
File local state and EPA reports ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Manage contracting for natural gas futures and hedges.
Coordinate departmental and office relocations within the facility.
Leadership & Team Development:
Communicate regularly with the CEO CFO CNO and Department Directors.
Maintain organized records and documentation.
Mentor staff developing leadership skills and fostering teamwork.
Lead initiatives in energy audits and cost containment measures.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure compliance with applicable Joint Commission CMS state and local regulations.
Maintain a high level of awareness and understanding of relevant guidelines policies procedures and professional standards.
Other Duties:
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the health center.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
Working knowledge of OSHA compliance.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Business Hospital Administration or Technical Training is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility management with a preference for experience in a hospital setting.
Engineering and basic safety knowledge in a healthcare setting are preferred.
Certificates/Licenses:
Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) or Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification required within 1 year of employment.
