Job Overview:
We are actively seeking a skilled Cloud Administrator for a contract opportunity in Richmond VA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing physical and virtual environments along with administering cloud infrastructure on the AWS platform. This role is focused on maintaining high availability security and performance of cloudbased applications and services. Candidates must be local to the Richmond area and available to work onsite when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain physical and virtual machine environments ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Administer and optimize the organizations AWS cloud infrastructure including EC2 S3 RDS VPC IAM and other AWS services.
- Monitor and troubleshoot AWS resources using tools like AWS CloudWatch CloudTrail and AWS Config.
- Perform regular system maintenance including patch management backup and recovery procedures and security updates.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to implement automation tools for infrastructure provisioning monitoring and alerting.
- Maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions for businesscritical systems.
- Monitor network and application performance identifying and resolving issues proactively.
- Assist with security audits risk assessments and implementing compliance best practices for cloud environments.
- Participate in an oncall rotation to handle critical incidents and outages.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management with at least 3 years in cloud administration (preferably AWS).
- Strong experience with AWS services such as EC2 S3 VPC RDS IAM and CloudWatch.
- Experience managing physical and virtualized server environments (VMware HyperV etc.).
- Proficient in Linux and Windows server administration.
- Handson experience with cloud monitoring tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery planning and .
- Experience with automation tools (Ansible Terraform CloudFormation) is a plus.
- Knowledge of networking (DNS VPN Load Balancers) in cloud environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- AWS Certification (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect SysOps Administrator) is highly desirable.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with Azure or Google Cloud platforms.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in cloud environments.
- Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
