About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Team Lead for Project Controlling. This role is a critical role in overseeing the financial management of grantfunded projects ensuring compliance with donor requirements and LightfortheWorld policies. This role requires advanced skills in financial analysis grant and stakeholder management. The job holder will be responsible for overseeing the daytoday operations of the Project Controlling team as well as providing guidance to the Programme teams.
Tasks
Functional Expertise:
- Contributes to the decisionmaking process of grant applications
- Coordinates financial donor reporting as well as ad hoc financial reports
- Produces highquality financial information derives critical insights and communicates effectively with international donors Programme teams and Country offices in subSahara Africa
- Prepares for and oversees audits ensures compliance with donor requirements as well as with LightfortheWorld policies
- Designs implements and enhances standard financial processes with a focus on financial planning and analysis
- Provides training and technical assistance to project staff and partners to strengthen their skills in grant management financial reporting and compliance.
Leadership Skills:
- Comfortably operates in environments with ambiguity demonstrating strong problemsolving abilities.
- Effectively manages processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with standards.
- Displays autonomy and confidence in decisionmaking even when standing alone.
- Engages and inspires 8 direct reports by managing vision and purpose fostering an effective team.
- Demonstrates commitment to talent development through recruitment onboarding performance management and skill assessment.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration or a related field. MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g. CPA CMA) is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial management controlling or a related field preferably in a leading role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles financial planning and analysis and reporting requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence decisionmaking.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are a must.
