Structural Steel Detailer

A well established concern in the steel industry is looking for a Structural Steel Detailer with a minimum of five years experience preferred. The ability to detail miscellaneous items is a plus. Candidate should possess good verbal and written communication skills strong math skills and be able to multitask between several projects.

RESPONSIBILITES

1. Prepare structural steel shop drawings utilizing Tekla & AutoCAD software.
2. Prepare steel erection plans as well as detailing individual structural steel members.
3. Prepare steel shop drawings for miscellaneous steel.
4. Knowledge of shop and erection process.
5. Experienced in connection detailing.
6. Experience with other drawing packages preferred but not mandatory.

8. Develop Tekla models following structural and architectural design drawings;
9. onnect members following information supplied by the project EOR and the connection design engineer
10. Consult and supply design alterations to connection engineer on difficult connections;
11. Draft concise RFIs / DXF / DWG / NC files
12. Implement design impacts for changes issued through SIs and CCNs;
13. Planning organizing directing controlling and evaluating the activities and operations of project teams;
14. Organizing directing and controlling detailing and drafting activities in commercial; industrial resource transportation recreation and other sectors;
15. Consulting with fabricator workshop and if required liaising with architects and engineers;
16. Supporting workshop with accurate cut lists and CNC data files for the fabrication process;
17. Reviewing information models engineer prepared drawings and data imports;
18. Managing the preparation and coordination of assembly drawings and erection plans; Ensuring that completed drawings have been reviewed for completeness accuracy and compliance with clients fabrication and erection needs (as per contract);
19. Ensure that drawings have been checked for conformity with clients and Exacts specifications and standards;
20. Mentoring junior and intermediate detailers in all aspects of structural steel detailing; and
21. Promoting continuous improvement and contributing to companywide policies standards and procedures and supporting juniors in increasing their knowledge of Tekla Structures software and steel detailing in general.
22. Prepare details foe sheeting flashings and other buyouts.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Grade 12 (Mathematics as a subject will be an added advantage)
2. High level of knowledge of industry standard detailing practices.
3. Successful completion of steel detailing training from a recognized college or technical school; preferred structural detailing certificate.
4. At least 5 years experience in a detailing role and progressive responsibility for planning execution and monitoring of major steel detailing projects.
5. Proficiency in TEKLA Structures software and AutoCAD software.

RUMUNERATION

R21000 per month (negotiable)
